How a Reserved Accademia Ticket Works
You book the slot, pick up the ticket nearby, pass security and follow the museum's one-way route to the Tribune.
Reserve your entry time
Choose a date from Tuesday to Sunday and a time slot; the museum is closed on Mondays. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before. Children under 18 need their own ticket and an ID, or a photo of one, to prove their age.
Collect the ticket nearby
Go to the operator's office at Via degli Alfani 115 R ten minutes before your slot. If you are early, there is an air-conditioned room to wait in. Then walk round to the museum entrance on Via Ricasoli for your time.
Pass the security check
Everyone goes through security, and at peak hours the operator says the wait can reach 20 minutes. Only small bags up to 40 x 30 x 18 cm and a half-liter bottle of water are allowed in, and the museum has no cloakroom.
Follow the route to the Tribune
The Hall of the Colossus, then the Gallery of the Prisoners with Michelangelo's unfinished figures, then the David under the Tribune skylight. The Gipsoteca, early paintings and musical instruments follow; toilets are at the end.

Before You Book
Which Accademia Ticket Gets You to the David With the Least Fuss?
Where the statue actually is, what the museum's own rules mean on the day, and which ticket to book.
David is not in the Uffizi
Michelangelo’s David stands in the Tribune of the Accademia Gallery, at Via Ricasoli 58/60, about 1.1 km and a 15-minute walk north of the Uffizi. The two museums belong to different institutes, sell tickets on different platforms, and no ticket covers both. If you have booked the Uffizi expecting to see the David there, you will need a second ticket.
Officially the Accademia charges €20, plus a €4 booking fee for a reserved slot, so €24 booked ahead through its only official seller, B-Ticket. The museum recommends reserving and warns that the wait without a reservation may be long; box-office tickets on the day exist, with the same wait. The resellers below charge more than €24. What you pay for is a slot held under your name on a platform in English, free cancellation on the tickets that offer it, and in one case a desk a few steps from the entrance that hands you the ticket.
Hours, bags and the rules at the door
The Accademia opens 8.15 a.m. to 6.50 p.m., Tuesday to Sunday, and closes every Monday, on 1 January and on 25 December. Its official pages give last admission as either 6.10 or 6.20 p.m., and the upstairs rooms shut at 6.40, so a late slot means a short visit.
There is no cloakroom. Only small bags up to 40 x 30 x 18 cm come in, water in a bottle up to half a liter is allowed, and everyone passes a security inspection. A daypack that the Uffizi would take at its free cloakroom is a problem here, and the museum’s own pages disagree about whether its shop offers storage, so leave luggage at your hotel.
Under-18s enter free with ID, and EU citizens aged 18 to 25 pay €2. The museum is wheelchair accessible, with the accessible entrance at number 60 and a lift upstairs. An audio guide, including a children’s version, is rented at the bookshop for €6 against an ID document. Toilets are on the ground floor near the lift, and you reach them only at the end of the route.
On free days there is no booking at all: every first Sunday of the month (4 October, 1 November and 6 December remain in 2026), plus 25 April, 2 June and 4 November. You wait your turn at the door like everyone else, and timed tickets cannot be used for those dates.
What you see, and how long it takes
The route runs from the entrance into the Hall of the Colossus, then along the Gallery of the Prisoners, Michelangelo’s unfinished figures, to the Tribune with the David under its skylight. After that come the Gipsoteca of plaster casts, the rooms of 13th- and 14th-century painting, the musical instruments from the Medici collections, and the late-Gothic rooms upstairs. The museum publishes no visit length; tour listings and visitor reports put it at 45 minutes to an hour and a half.
The ticket I would book
Michelangelo’s David Official Timed Entry Ticket from Slow Tour Tuscany is the official timed ticket sold through an authorized reseller. You collect it at the operator’s office at Via degli Alfani 115 R, a few steps from the museum, ten minutes before your slot, then walk to the entrance. It is $47 per person, checked in October 2026 for the next available date, and the versions with a digital audio guide on your phone or a VR video on the making of the David cost $4 and $8 more. It is rated 4.5 from 15,579 reviews and can be cancelled free up to 24 hours before. The listing is upfront that nobody skips the security check and that at peak hours the wait there can reach 20 minutes. Full listing and reviews in our breakdown.
The alternatives on this site
Timed Entry to Michelangelo’s David with Audio App is the cheaper reserved ticket: $32 with a digital audio guide included, rated 4.5 from 21,599 reviews, the most-reviewed listing on this site, with free cancellation. The slot is binding once booked, and you can collect the ticket 15 minutes before it. When we checked at the start of October, the next available date was about three weeks out, so book this one early (our breakdown).
Accademia Gallery David Guided Tour with Timed Entry from The Traveler Tours adds a live guide and headset for one hour, $74, rated 4.7 from 4,628 reviews, with free cancellation. You meet the operator’s representative at door number 39 on Via Ricasoli, and you may stay in the museum after the hour is up. Small-group (max 10) and private versions are on the same listing (our breakdown).
If you want the Uffizi on the same day with one guide, Uffizi Gallery and Accademia Gallery Guided Tour covers both in about three hours; the Uffizi and Accademia tours page compares the combined options.
When to book something else
A reserved ticket suits a visit built around the David and an hour of wandering. If the Prisoners, the Gipsoteca and the paintings interest you as much as the statue, the one-hour guided tour is the better fit, because the museum itself offers only the €6 audio guide. If your only free day in Florence is a Monday, there is no Accademia option at all; the museum is closed.
On the day
Bring the ID matching the booking name. Carry only a small bag and a half-liter bottle, and allow for the security line at busy times. Rent the audio guide at the bookshop if you want one; toilets come only at the end of the route.
When you are ready, check availability for your dates. If you are combining the David with the Uffizi, read Uffizi and Accademia in one day; for planning your museum days around the crowds, see the best time to visit the Uffizi Gallery.

Frequently Asked Questions About Accademia and David Tickets
What visitors ask before booking a time with Michelangelo's David, answered briefly.
No. The original David is in the Tribune of the Accademia Gallery at Via Ricasoli 58/60, about 1.1 km and a 15-minute walk north of the Uffizi. The two museums are run by different institutes and need separate tickets. To see both in one visit with a single guide, look at the Uffizi and Accademia tours.
€20 for a full-price ticket, plus a €4 booking fee when you reserve a time slot, so €24 booked ahead through the museum's official seller. EU citizens aged 18 to 25 pay €2, and under-18s enter free with ID. Reseller tickets cost more; what you pay for is the reservation handled in English, free cancellation where offered, and on-site help.
You skip the ticket queue, which the museum itself warns can be long without a reservation. You do not skip the security inspection: everyone passes it, and one operator says the wait can reach 20 minutes at peak hours. Arrive a few minutes before your slot with your ID and a small bag, and expect the entrance to move in batches.
8.15 a.m. to 6.50 p.m., Tuesday to Sunday. It is closed every Monday, on 1 January and on 25 December. Last admission is 30 to 40 minutes before closing depending on which official page you read, and the first-floor rooms close at 6.40 p.m. The Uffizi keeps similar days; see our opening hours guide.
Only a small one. The museum has no cloakroom and admits bags and backpacks up to 40 x 30 x 18 cm. A water bottle up to half a liter is allowed. Its own pages disagree on whether the museum shop offers luggage storage, so do not count on it; leave suitcases and large daypacks at your hotel before you come.
The museum publishes no figure. Tour listings and visitor reports put a visit at 45 minutes to an hour and a half, with most of the time spent in the Tribune with the David and the Gallery of the Prisoners. The one-hour guided tour lets you stay on afterward until closing.
The featured timed ticket, the cheaper audio-app ticket and the one-hour guided tour can all be cancelled free up to 24 hours before the start through the booking platform. Once the window passes, the slot is binding and a missed time is lost. Tickets are issued in your name and cannot be given to someone else.
Yes: every first Sunday of the month, plus 25 April, 2 June and 4 November. On those days booking is switched off and everyone waits their turn at the door, so a timed ticket cannot be used. The remaining free Sundays in 2026 are 4 October, 1 November and 6 December. For quieter paid days, see the best time to visit.
The museum rents an audio guide, with a children's version, at the bookshop for €6 against an ID document. The featured ticket offers a digital audio guide or a VR video on the making of the David as options on your own phone, and the cheaper timed ticket includes an audio app. Bring headphones and a charged phone for either.
Yes, if it is not a Monday. The museums are a 15-minute walk apart, and a reserved slot at each with two or three hours between them works well. Guided combo tours do both in about three hours. Our guide to the Uffizi and Accademia in one day sets out the order and timings.
